Mold and Indoor Air Quality

Mold

Mold occurs naturally in a wide range of environments. In fact, there are almost 100,000 different types of mold – some found in the air we breathe and the water we drink as well as in our homes, on our clothes and even on our pets. Mold reproduces at a very fast rate when it finds just the right combination of moisture, food and temperature. This rapid growth results in large amounts of spores being released into the air, which can cause serious health issues when inhaled.

Our Mold Services

Big East Environmental’s mold inspections begin with a full visual assessment of the structure in question. Then, using the latest technology, our certified inspectors collect samples for analyzing a number of basic indoor air quality parameters such as relative humidity, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, temperature and more.

Specifically, our mold inspections identify:

  • Any sources of water intrusion or leaks

  • Any wet building materials (>25-20% moisture content)

  • Any areas of high humidity (>50%)

  • Levels of relative humidity, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and temperature

  • The type and amount of mold present based on air quality sampling

  • Any surface mold

  • Moisture and humidity readings

Mold Remediation Project Design and Oversight

Big East Environmental is a third-party consultant, which means we don’t perform remediation. We will, however, work closely with you to design the project – assuming the role of owner-representative during the remediation process to ensure that the inspection and analysis is completed as intended and within budget.

Final Clearance Services

Upon successful completion of remediation, we can perform a final, post-remediation clearance inspection for added peace of mind.
